Botox
Botox (Botulinum toxin A) is a purified muscle relaxant that was initially used to treat eye muscle disorders. By April 2002, the FDA was satisfied with its review of studies showing that Botox® reduced the severity of frown lines for up to 120 days. The agency then granted approval to use the drug for this condition. It is now a popular treatment for facial lines caused by muscle movement from various facial expressions. By injecting small amounts of Botox beneath these lines, the muscles relax. This allows deep facial folds to soften. It is commonly applied to diminish the vertical lines between the eyebrows and creases around the eyes as well as horizontal forehead lines. Botox requires a short office visit and full results are achieved within one week.
The most common benefit of Botox® is the reduction and smoothing of wrinkles and lines in the skin. and thick bands in the neck. Because the muscles are unable to contract, Botox may actually prevent new wrinkles from forming.

Dr. Valente uses Botox to minimize furrows and creases in the forehead and “crow’s feet” near the eyes giving a more youthful appearance to the face.
For many of Dr. Valente's patients who have had frequent treatments, the injected muscles atrophy - allowing the patient to go longer and longer between treatments.
