Skin Tightening & Wrinkle Reduction
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing can be used as an alternative to chemical peel and dermabrasion. In some cases, the procedure is used after a facelift or eyelid surgery to eliminate remaining lines. The goal of laser resurfacing is to enhance facial appearance.
Treatable conditions with laser skin resurfacing include:
- Facial lines and wrinkles due to aging
- Crows feet at the corner of the eyes
- Lines and wrinkles under the eyes
- Laugh or "Frown" creases
- Lines and wrinkles around the mouth
- Scars from acne, chicken pox, trauma or surgeries
Main Advantages of Laser Resurfacing
Compared to a chemical peel, dermabrasion or other forms of laser treatment, this procedure offers:
- More accurate visualization of the treatment tissue
- More accurate depth control vs. chemical peel
- More precise elimination of fine lines
- Less risk of certain infections
The benefits of this technique is that there is less pain and a faster recovery time. In most cases, it is also less costly.
The Procedure
A local anesthetic or intravenous sedation ensures comfort throughout the procedure. Once the area is cleansed and draped, a laser beam quickly and accurately vaporizes the outermost layers of skin. Applying laser energy in quick, intense bursts, unwanted tissue and surface indentations are smoothed. In each case, the number and duration of treatments vary depending on the specific condition being treated. In most cases, only one treatment is needed. The initial redness starts to fade in a week and can be camouflaged with cosmetics.
